Book Review Thursday: The Third Target

ThirdTargetI agree with one reviewer of this book, Porter Goss, former director of the CIA:

Whenever I see a new Joel Rosenberg book coming out, I know I need to clear time on my calendar. His penetrating knowledge of all things Mideastern, coupled with his intuitive knack for high-stakes intrigue, demand attention.

Indeed, this novel seems all too real with a storyline that reads just like the headlines we are seeing today regarding ISIS and radical Islam.  I am a fan of Joel Rosenberg’s books, and although I’ve never read one, fiction or nonfiction, that wasn’t riveting or well-written, this one is especially timely.

The story centers around James (J.B.) Collins, a New York Times foreign correspondent who has traveled the world tracking down stories, often finding himself in dangerous situations.  Little does he know what’s in store for him when he begins following a lead about ISIS obtaining chemical weapons.

The story is full of twists and turns and action galore – you definitely won’t be bored!  In the midst of tracking down the chemical weapons story, J.B. learns that the Israelis and Palestinians are about to sign an historic peace agreement.  However, unbeknownst to the peace agreement parties ISIS has selected its “Third Target”.

In his novels, Rosenberg has a knack for writing a story which manages to make Biblical prophecy come alive and relevant.  Because the storyline so closely follows today’s headlines, you will find the book thought-provoking as well.  The cliffhanger at the end will have you coming back for more.  Anyone who loves edge-of-your-seat political thrillers will find this a great read.
